We’re thrilled to introduce you to the latest additions to our driving instructor family, Kevin and Talha! Let’s dive into their stories and discover what makes them such fantastic additions to our team!
Meet Kevin: The IT Guru Turned Driving Mentor
“Hi, I’m Kevin. With 18 years of experience as a driving instructor and over 20 years in IT support before that, I’ve seen it all. Transitioning from IT to driving instruction was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of helping someone progress from a nervous novice to a confident, fully licenced driver.
Beyond teaching beginners, I also conduct assessments for experienced drivers, whether at their own request or their employers’. Joining Herts Ability is an exciting new chapter for me. I strongly believe in the empowerment and independence that a driving license can provide. This role gives me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people, teaching them how to use various vehicle adaptations. I can’t wait to get started!”
Fun Fact About Kevin:
Kevin’s background in IT gives him a unique edge when it comes to troubleshooting and problem-solving – skills that are invaluable in his role as a driving instructor!
Meet Talha: The Enthusiastic ADI
Talha has been a licensed Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) for five years and has long been keen on joining the Herts Ability team. His passion for driving instruction and dedication to helping others make him a perfect fit for us. Talha is excited about the new challenge and looks forward to helping our clients get back on the road with confidence.
“Born in Turkey and raised in the UK, becoming a driving instructor wasn’t originally in my plans. I spent nearly two years searching for a career before I stumbled upon this profession. Interestingly, it was a learner car I saw in Portugal that inspired me to apply once I returned to the UK. My training took roughly 5-6 months, and I became a potential driving instructor (PDI) at the age of 22 in August 2019. By February 2020, I had passed my part 3 test and became an approved driving instructor (ADI).
During my instructor training, I worked as a contractor for British Car Auctions (BCA). My days there were very exciting as I had the opportunity to drive various cars and learn more about them. My job involved inspecting and delivering vehicles across the country, which significantly improved my long-distance driving skills and my understanding of different vehicles.
The first time I heard about Herts Ability was while working at BCA, as they have a contract together. This gave me the chance to drive vehicles fitted with adaptations. Many years later, I met Sarah, an assessor at Herts Ability, who talked to me about the organization and her role there. This conversation sparked my interest. After expressing my enthusiasm, Sarah connected me with the right people, and I was invited for an interview.
For someone who has worked solo most of their life, being part of a team is incredibly empowering, especially when the team is eager to support you in every way possible. Everyone at Herts Ability has helped me feel comfortable and welcomed. I would like to extend a special thanks to Simon for providing the necessary training and motivation.”
Fun Fact About Talha:
Talha’s enthusiasm for teaching and learning new techniques makes him a dynamic and engaging instructor, always ready to adapt to the needs of his students!
