Meet the Herts Ability Driving Advisors!

We often share success stories from our clients on the Herts Ability social platforms and blog… but we rarely hear from our amazing Driving Advisors! These are the ones who thrive on helping people gain or regain their independence behind the wheel! Read on to learn more about what we do and how we do it…

Who makes up an assessment team?

The teams are made up of an Occupational Therapist and a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.

These are not ordinary OT’s and Instructors!

Every member of the assessment team is highly trained with Instructors having in-depth knowledge of medical conditions and OT’s having in-depth knowledge of driving standards.

This gives a good overall assessment for our wonderful clients.

Part of this training is the Driving Mobility Education Programme, currently affiliated with Oxford Brookes University.

Putting all this education and training aside, it’s important to say, our driving advisors are human; they have feelings, they care, and they are always empathetic with their clients.

What is one thing that can help the client most?

That’s simple – our assessment teams will always treat their clients as individuals.

The teams will listen to their concerns, they’ll make notes about what the client finds easy or difficult.

Most importantly, our assessment teams will learn from the client.

That’s right; the client teaches the assessment team!

Our assessment teams are good! They’re the best of the best but they are always learning and improving.

Remember, they thrive on helping people gain or regain their independence!

Our assessment teams come to work every day with one thing on their mind – making sure that clients remain independent!
