Herts Ability is proud to be supporting Neurodiversity Celebration Week!

Neurodiversity Celebration Week (18th-24th March) is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Here’s how you can show your support on this special week!

Neurodiversity Celebration Week aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.

Together, let’s change the narrative to understand, accept, and celebrate neurodiversity!

Herts Ability is always proud to help neurodiverse people gain the independence a driving licence brings! Indeed, we’ve even put together a handy guide that contains all you need to know when it comes to ADHD and driving, which you can read here.

We deliver driving lessons alongside theory test support to help you get on track and pass the two tests set by the DVSA.

We have unique skills to help you achieve and give an honest, evidence-based opinion on the best way forward.

Working alongside our Occupational Therapists, we have an understanding of neurodiverse conditions and will always treat you as an individual with the care and respect you deserve.

For more information on how we can help you, please give our friendly team a call on 01707 324 581 or email driving@hertsability.org.uk

Herts Ability is happy to share this heart-warming story on the progress of our client, Laura Hood!

Laura is a 39 year old learner driver, currently having lessons with our Lead Assessor James.

She was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD in 2022.

We are very pleased to announce that on the 7th March 2023, Laura passed the DVSA theory test, with the support of James!

This is what James has to say about working with Laura!

“Laura is dedicated 100% to learning how to drive, passing her test and becoming more independent. She’s always on time and eager to learn.

Laura is a pleasure to work with and her sense of humour and direct way of communicating makes things really fun. It’s great to see her achieving it!”

And this is what Laura has to say about James and the service provided by Herts Ability!

“James is patient, understanding, funny and puts me at ease.

If I don’t understand, he finds another way to help me, changing what he does, never expecting me to change who I am.”

Being a wheelchair user, independence isn’t easy.

The whole team at Herts Ability is friendly, helpful and patient – just what I need.

If in doubt, get in touch with Herts Ability – they’re the team to help you!”
