As we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2025, Herts Ability is proud to join the global community in honouring the remarkable achievements of women and advocating for accelerated progress toward gender equality. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, emphasises the urgency of bridging the gender gap, as current projections suggest that full parity may not be achieved until 2158 – approximately five generations from now.
Celebrating the Women of Herts Ability
At Herts Ability, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive. Our progressive policies, practices, benefits, and support mechanisms are designed to advance women’s career trajectories, recognising that celebrating their accomplishments serves as a catalyst for others to realise their full potential.
Sarah, Driving Assessor
Sarah, our dedicated driving assessor, exemplifies the importance of female representation in traditionally male-dominated fields:
“I believe it’s essential to encourage greater representation of women in male-dominated industries, such as driving tuition. A more diverse team brings a fresh approach to instruction and gives learners the opportunity to choose instructors they feel comfortable with and can relate to. My role as a driving instructor led me to the mobility centre and into the field of driving assessments, where I aim to continue developing my skills and contributing to a balanced and inclusive environment at Herts Ability.”

As the only female Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) assessor at Herts Ability, Sarah considers it a privilege to serve in this role and is committed to providing exceptional service to our clients.
Victoria, Driving Centre Administrator
Our Driving Centre Administrator, Victoria, reflects on her personal achievements and the limitless potential of women when provided with the right resources:
“Within reason, a disabled woman can achieve anything provided they have the resources, time, and correct information. My biggest achievement, in my twenties, was travelling the world for three months! More recently, giving birth and becoming a Mum to two lovely children.”

Dr. Alka Chandrayan, Trustee and Advocate
International Women’s Day 2025 holds special significance for Dr. Alka Chandrayan, a client and now trustee of Herts Ability, who emphasizes embracing challenges with determination:
“I choose to challenge myself. To lead like a woman. Together we are powerful. Excellence is to do a common thing in an extraordinary way.”

Our Commitment to Accelerating Action
As we reflect on this day, Herts Ability is dedicated to contributing to the global movement for gender equality by:
- Empowering Women Economically: Implementing policies that support women’s financial independence and career growth.
- Fostering Female Talent: Creating mentorship and development programs to nurture and retain female talent within our organisation.
- Supporting Leadership Roles: Encouraging women’s participation in leadership, entrepreneurship, and decision-making roles.
- Advocating for Health Rights: Ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare services and promoting women’s health rights.
