Happy International Women’s Day 2024 from Herts Ability!

At Herts Ability, we take pride in our progressive policies, practices, benefits, and support mechanisms designed to advance women’s career trajectories. Recognising and celebrating the accomplishments of women serves as a catalyst, motivating more women to realise their full potential.

Today, as we commemorate International Women’s Day, we’re amplifying the inspiring narratives and confronting the significant challenges experienced by our female workforce and clients.

It’s a reminder that regardless of gender, everyone has the capacity to achieve remarkable things.

Let’s #InspireInclusion together!

With this ethos guiding us, today is dedicated to raising awareness and applauding the successes of our female colleagues. We begin by sharing a poignant reflection from our Driving Centre Administrator, Vicky, who remarked:

“Within reason, a disabled woman can achieve anything provided they have the resources, time, and correct information. My biggest achievement, in my twenties, was travelling the world for three months and in particular carrying out a skydive in New Zealand! More recently, giving birth and becoming a Mum to two lovely children.”

Women’s Day holds a special significance for Dr. Alka Chandrayan, a client and advocate of Herts Ability, who emphasises the importance of celebrating women’s achievements and embracing setbacks with determination:

“I choose to challenge myself. To lead like a woman. Together we are powerful. Excellence is to do a common thing in an extraordinary way.”

The theme for this year, #InspireInclusion, underscores the importance of embracing the diverse perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life. Our Occupational Therapist Katie proudly highlights the diversity within our team and the significance of female representation in traditionally male-dominated fields:

“Despite the world of driving assessment and teaching being a predominantly male profession, here at Herts Ability we have an all-female, multicultural, OT clinical team and I am also proud to be part of the leadership team!”

And here’s a heartfelt Women’s Day 2024 message from UK Disability & Theatre Blogger, Shona Louise, emphasising the ongoing journey towards gender equality:

“It’s an opportunity to be seen as a woman, and recognise our collective achievements. It’s also a day to look at what progress we have made and look towards making more. One day alone won’t solve sexism and discrimination, but as a woman it is an important day for me and an opportunity to tackle issues on a mainstream level.”

As we reflect on this day, let’s consider how each of us can contribute:

✨ Empower women economically

✨ Foster, retain, and nurture female talent

✨ Support women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, STEM, and decision-making roles

✨ Advocate for women’s health rights

✨ Create inclusive infrastructure

✨ Engage women and girls in sustainable agriculture and food security

✨ Ensure access to quality education and training

✨ Promote women’s participation in sports

Happy International Women’s Day! Let’s continue to inspire and champion a world where equality reigns supreme. Join us in celebrating the power and potential of women everywhere! Click here to find out what it means to truly inspire inclusion as women all over the world share their stories!
