Happy International Volunteer Day 2024!

At Herts Ability, we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible contributions of volunteers everywhere. Their dedication transforms lives, and we’re proud to have such amazing individuals supporting our mission. This International Volunteer Day, we’re extending a heartfelt thank you to all volunteers and inviting more people to join our team.

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back? Fancy becoming a Volunteer Driver or helping with vehicle maintenance checks? We’re also on the lookout for new Trustees with financial or HR expertise. If you’re ready to make a difference, keep reading to see how you can help!

Why Volunteer with Herts Ability?

As a volunteer driver, you’ll play a key role in empowering our clients to access essential services at our Welwyn Garden City centre, including driving assessments and lessons. You’ll get the satisfaction of knowing your time and skills are helping people achieve greater independence and confidence.

We provide:

  • A vehicle for your use
  • Comprehensive training to ensure you’re fully supported

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for compassionate, skilled individuals who meet the following criteria:

✅ A full UK driving licence

✅ Confident, conscientious driving skills

✅ Willingness to drive various distances (some trips may be outside your local area)

✅ Familiarity with wheelchair-accessible vehicles (advantageous but not essential as training is provided)

This role involves significant responsibilities, so all volunteers will need to complete an Enhanced with Barred List DBS check.

Interested in Joining Us?

If you have a few hours to spare, we’d love to hear from you! Whether you want to drive, assist with vehicle checks, or bring your professional expertise to our Board of Trustees, your contribution will help make a difference in the lives of many.
