This year’s theme, “Do you see me?”, focuses on breaking down the barriers faced by these remarkable individuals and celebrating their contributions to society.
A Triumph to Remember: Kayleigh’s Inspiring Journey!
At Herts Ability, we take pride in supporting and empowering individuals with learning disabilities. Today, we share a story that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Learning Disability Week: the incredible achievement of our client, Kayleigh, who recently aced her DVSA theory test with flying colours, thanks to the dedicated support from our team!
The Beginning of a Remarkable Journey
Kayleigh’s journey began in the summer of 2023 with an initial driving assessment conducted by Lead Assessor James and Occupational Therapist Sarah. During this assessment, it became evident that Kayleigh faced several challenges, including high levels of anxiety, difficulty grasping new concepts, and discomfort in unfamiliar situations. However, Kayleigh’s determination was unwavering.
Overcoming Obstacles with Support from Herts Ability
Kayleigh embraced the challenge head-on, diving into preparation for her theory test. With six sessions generously funded by the Department for Transport, she worked closely with Lead Assessor James. Together, they developed new coping mechanisms, boosted her confidence, and mastered the essential test questions. Kayleigh’s hard work and the unwavering support from the Herts Ability team transformed what once seemed like insurmountable obstacles into achievable goals.
