Driving with Brachial Neuritis: Everything you need to know!

Brachial Neuritis can cause pain, burning, unusual sensations, and weakness around the shoulder.

The symptoms may also spread to the hands, arms, or chest. People sometimes refer to brachial neuritis as Brachial Plexitis.

It is a type of peripheral neuropathy, which is damage to the nerves in the extremities of the body, such as the hands and feet.

Brachial Neuritis is relatively rare but can cause problems with mobility and independence.

Herts Ability is here to support you and, very often the good news gets even better!

Here’s what our recent client Alan had to say:

“Due to an injury, I’d lost all movement in my left arm.

Herts Ability took me through the process to establish what I needed to get mobile.

In due course I had adaptations fitted to my car and was able to drive again in a safe manner.

Now, several years later, I am fortunate enough to have recovered from my condition.

So, this time round I wanted to get the restrictions removed from my licence. This would enable me to drive any car again without adaptations.

The DVLA required a new assessment so I contacted Herts Ability. On the day, the whole process was smooth and efficient.

The Occupational Therapist and Specialist Approved Driving Asessor were professional, encouraging and put me at my ease.

A special mention to James (Driving Assessor) whose knowledge and calmness helped during my assessment.

The outcome of the assessment was a report, which was duly submitted to the DVLA. The upshot was I was issued with a new licence, without restrictions.

Talk to Herts Ability, they know the ins and outs of the process and can guide you all the way!”

If you have a physical impairment and you want to try driving with a different method of vehicle control, with Herts Ability you’ll be given the opportunity to drive vehicles fitted with adaptations!
