June 1-7 is Volunteers Week 2023!

Fancy becoming a Volunteer Driver for Herts Ability this June? We’re looking to recruit volunteer drivers, so if you love being behind the wheel and want to use your driving skills to make a difference in people’s lives, then you’ll love this rewarding role!

As a volunteer driver, you will be helping us transport our clients to and from our Welwyn Garden City centre for their driving assessments and lessons.

We will provide a vehicle and training for this role.

What you need to apply:

Full UK Driving Licence ✅

Confident and conscientious driving skills ✅

Willingness to drive a variety of distances, some may be out of your local area ✅

Background in wheelchair accessible vehicles is advantageous but not necessary as full training will be provided ✅

Due to the nature of the role and responsibilities required, you will undergo an Enhanced with Barred List DBS check.

If you have a few hours to spare, we would love to hear from you! 01707 324 581 / driving@hertsability.org.uk

Also…

Herts Ability has a proud history of recruiting and working with volunteers, and many of them have used this experience to join the organisation as staff, move into work elsewhere, or join the Herts Ability Board of Trustees.

We have several opportunities to offer those who have the time and interest.

Here’s four ways you can help Herts Ability by volunteering ⤵️

1) The Board of Trustees 👩‍🏫

We offer training, mentoring, staff and administrative support including remote access to the Herts Ability systems for speed and convenience

2) Specialist knowledge 💡

If you have expertise in HR, finance, health and safety or GDPR and would be prepared to act as a lead for the organisation we would like to hear from you.

You do not have to become a Trustee!

Our managers will undertake the work required under your leadership

3) Fundraising and recruitment of sponsors 💷

Of course, all charities need this, so why Herts Ability?

We are a very unusual charity and therefore very interesting, but not enough people know about us.

Networking is crucial to dealing with this; it is often a case of not what you know but who you know.

If you think you could put us in touch with people or organisations who want to support our aims and activities we would love to hear from you

4) Friends of Herts Ability 🤝

Very similar to the point made above.

We hold community events which always require support to properly organise and supervise.

This could be staffing a stall, stewarding or car parking for example

👉 If you would like to help in any way please contact us on 01707 324 581! We look forward to meeting you and benefiting from the support you can offer us 👈
