Diabetes can affect people in different ways. Many people live with diabetes and have no difficulties.
Sometimes, diabetes can cause changes in sensation, movement or in extreme circumstances, it can lead to amputation.
Where do these difficulties leave us with the independence that driving can bring?
Quite simply, Herts Ability could have the answers!
If your diabetes has caused physical changes or, if you have concerns, come along to one of our five centres for an assessment.
During a driving assessment, we’ll look at what you can do, look at what you can’t do and make every attempt to improve what you have difficulties with.
If you need physical adaptations to a car, we have a fleet of modified vehicles for you to try.
We have a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists and Specialist Approved Driving Instructors that have your wellbeing and independence at the forefront.
Once you’ve found the right method of car control, you might need some tuition to become confident and competent.
The Herts Ability Driving School could help! Our expert instructors have a good understanding of all medical conditions and will take your individuality into consideration, every step of the way.
Here’s what our recent client Roland had to say:
